It's all Red and Pink

Coneflower Merlot, Echinacea 'Merlot' PPAF, boasts fragrant flowers with dark red stems that look striking in cut flower arrangements!

Masses of huge 5", rose-pink flowers, with prominent cones, are displayed in mid to late summer on the sturdy, dark colored stems. Echinacea 'Merlot' PPAF also has excellent form and vigor to make it the perfect perennial for a sunny location in your garden. 'Merlot', tall and much-branched, holds up its head without staking. For best results, plant in full sun in a well-drained area.

Echinacea is known for its large flower heads that turn to seed in the fall. It is a great choice for cut flowers. Not only is it a prized perennial for many gardeners, but it is also said to be a potent medicine. Echinacea is said to increase the immune function in the body.

These coneflowers can be used as accent plants or in mixed borders, open woodlands, and mass plantings.

If you leave the coneflower seed heads on the plant at the end of the season, they will provide winter interest and food for native songbirds.
