Softly Energetic City Lights Tall Bearded Iris

  • Violet, White, and Yellow-Bearded Blooms
  • Attracts Butterflies and Hummingbirds
  • Relatively Drought-Tolerant Once Established

The lights won't go down in your city when you have a garden full of City Lights Tall Bearded Irises (Iris germanica 'City Lights'). These romantic irises really capture the mood of sitting on a hilltop overlooking the glow of a city's lights. Not only did the City Light Iris win multiple awards, but this perennial offers years of hardy growth to hold your interest and earn your adoration.

The City Lights Tall Bearded Iris's blooms look like they were plucked right out of a painting. The blend of bright blue-violet and white makes the perfect muse for a watercolor or artist looking to capture the beauty of a show-stopping garden. These large 5-inch blooms feature a burst of white that glows from the center of the blue petals and light yellow beards.

If you want a plant that will come back year after year and flood your garden with beauty, this is a great choice! The City Lights Tall Bearded Iris will reappear and bloom in late spring. In many climates, it will rebloom again in fall.

Not only is this flower photogenic, but the hummingbirds and butterflies attracted to it are too!

Create a border that will enchant the entire block with a plethora of City Light Irises. They also look lovely in a mass planting in a dull spot in your yard that could use from late spring color. If you want to add some curb appeal, try planting a row along your foundation or as your garden border.

For happy City Light Irises, start them out right with a small mound of soil and a spot in the middle where their rhizomes can remain slightly exposed. Provide plenty of water and they'll begin to root within 2 to 3 weeks. They thrive with plenty of sun and will also grow in partial shade when planted in late summer.

Provide your City Lights Tall Bearded Iris with soil that drains well. Once established, you don't want to overwater them since they can succumb to root rot. They become relatively drought-tolerant so it's better to err on the side of less is more when it comes to their water. They'll be ready to thin in three to five years.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to add romance and artistry to your yard. Order a family of City Lights Tall Bearded Irises today to create a landscape fit for a painting!

Information About Bare Root Iris

Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different sized roots.

When planting, make sure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover in the spring.
