Californians know their garlic so it’s no wonder this large, reliable variety takes its name from the garlic capital of the US! The California Giant Garlic (Allium sativum 'Giant Garlic') is an explosion of flavor with large, zesty cloves and easy-to-peel skins. This soft neck garlic is adored among garlic connoisseurs and home gardeners for its low-maintenance nature and impeccable flavor.

California Garlic is easy to grow and highly productive. When ready to harvest, this reliable variety forms fat cloves packed with powerful garlic flavor. Homegrown Garlic is spicier and more pungent when fresh, plus more aromatic and juicier than anything you[‘ll find in the store!

Cultivated for thousands of years for both culinary and medicinal uses, you’ll be able to practice your garlic braiding because when this garlic is ready to be harvested, you will want to store as much as you can for future meals. When stored in a dry, cool location, it can last for up to half a year.

Planting and Application:

Garlic is best planted in the fall at the same time you are planting spring-flowering bulbs Break the bulbs into individual cloves and plant them about 4-6 inches apart, root side down and pointed side up. You can eat the green shoots that emerge in spring and even any flower shoots - called scapes! These add flavor and color to your spring and summer dishes.

Mature for harvest in a single season, once the green leaves turn yellow and die down, that is the time to harvest. Use in any culinary recipe you can imagine, cooked, roasted, fresh or dried and ground into your own garlic powder!
