Large bold foliage and vivid color, the Bronze Wave Coral Bells (Heuchera villosa 'Bronze Wave') is a larger, robust selection of Coral Bells with bronzy-purple foliage! Deeply cut, textured leaves have a two-tone effect, new growth is maroon to purple while older growth changes to green with purple undertones!

Pollinators love the tall pinkish-white blooms, held on thin stems, looking so dainty above the bold leaves! The long-lasting blossoms are favorites of pollinators and Hummingbirds alike! But if you wish to maintain these as foliage ornamentals, the flowers can be snipped off and added to bouquets!

Exceptionally cold-hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 8, Heuchera, also known as Alum Root, are adaptable shade garden plants that are fantastic for novice and busy gardeners! Often evergreen to semi-evergreen in warmer climates and mild winters, these are heat and humidity-resistant and highly adaptable low-growing plants!

Planting and Application:

Amazingly colorful groundcover throughout perennial beds and borders. Skirt trees, shrubs, and focal points, such as birdbaths or sculptures, with these vivid leaves to highlight! The fairy blooms are enchanting in Children's gardens and cut flower borders, the ruffled foliage adds lacy delights to Rock Gardens and Cottage borders alike. Mixed perennial gardens gain unique color, Pollinator borders and Hummingbird gardens both gain ample blossoms, just add a bird bath and a garden bench for a spring til summer show!

Make sure not to plant these Perennials too deep in the ground and add a 3-4 inch thick layer of mulch around to cover the root system. Prune off any brown leaves in the early spring as the new growth begins, and mulch to keep the roots cool and moist. It's wildly cold-hardy and heat tolerant, and deer simply choose not to bother with them.

Do Coral Bells spread?

Coral Bells can spread into tidy mounds about 2-3 feet in width but do not spread by rhizomes or stolons further than where they're planted.

Where do Coral Bells grow best?

Coral Bells love a shaded site in enriched soil that is well-drained. They appreciate regular moisture and a mulched root zone.

Do Coral Bells attract hummingbirds?

Coral Bells are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.

What pairs with Coral Bells?

These shade-loving perennials pair with lacy Astilbe and Ferns, other coarse foliage plants like Hosta, and the lobed foliage of Columbines! Try pairing with Barrenworts and Bergenia too!
