Absolutely cute and adorable Baby Sun Tickseed (Coreopsis grandiflora 'Baby Sun') is a sunny, heat-loving native wildflower!

Also known to many as Tickseed, Coreopsis are long-blooming, drought tolerant and disease resistant, gleaming little perennials! They are easy-to-grow powerhouses and highly prolific bloomers.

The captivating, miniature golden-yellow blooms with matching yellow centers, look like shiny new pennies. Calling pollinators and butterflies from far and wide while soaking up the sun.

Baby Sun blooms in early summer, filling the plant all season with daisy-like petals that are pleated and have wavy, toothed edges.

Even when not in flower, Baby Sun Coreopsis has beautiful, mounds of leathery green foliage. Deeply cut leaves and long deep lobes emerge a bit later in the spring than other perennials, but last vigorously until hard frost.

The fresh color and delicate foliage are perfect backdrops for the bold blooms to follow in late spring to early summer!

Compact, rounded mounds shrug off sweltering, hot dry garden beds, Baby Sun is a true North American native. Blooming with carefree abandon anywhere you plant them in the US. They bloom from spring through summer and all the way into the fall.

How to Use Baby Sun Tickseed In The Landscape

These sun-loving, bright yellow daisy-like miniatures fill in the gaps of your perennial beds and line borders in tidy mounds. Cottage gardens benefit from these small bright beacons with the addition of these shiny blooms.

Tickseed is Xeric (very drought tolerant) and works great in urban water-wise designs. Wildflower gardens are, of course, perfect sites for Baby Sun! Making themselves at home in rock gardens and prairies as well.

Adorable container plants and add a bright splash of color to your sunny planters and window boxes, on porches and patios alike. Small gardens, urban lots or even the smallest yards all have space for this densely-growing mini-perennial.

Mass plantings fill hot dry areas with sunny blooms and provide hardiness that won't back down from tough conditions. Naturally forming colonies along roadsides and in old fields by self-seeding, they naturalize prairie sites and sunny drifts with bold color.

#ProPlantTips For Care

Doing best in any kind of well-drained soil, Coreopsis are successful in poor, sandy and average soils; Baby Sun is really not particular as long as they don't sit in water.

Once established, Tickseed is very drought tolerant and thrives in those hottest, dry sites most plants don't tolerate. A hardy native, these thrive in USDA zones 4-9.

Baby Sun Tickseed thrives in full sun, though also appreciates some part shade in those warmer growing zones during the hottest part of the summer afternoon. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.

Deadheading encourages blooms all season, but be sure to leave some dried seed-heads for the birds to feast on in the autumn! Highly disease resistant, these tough natives endure the toughest locations!

Order your Baby Sun Tickseed from Nature Hills Nursery for cute, shiny blooms on a smaller, tidy miniature plant!
