The Audubon® Native Chinkapin Oak Tree (Quercus muehlenbergii) features uniquely beautiful foliage! An Ornamental tree featuring a scalloped edge and colorful new growth, plus fall color!

These lovely trees grow in a naturally rounded shape, perfect as street trees and stately Shade Trees, these impressive specimens are a boon to wildlife and birds! Long and leathery, with ornamental wavy edges, Chinkapin's dark green leaves cast delightfully refreshing shade!

This handsome native tree is sometimes spelled Chinquapin and sometimes called the Yellow Oak. The acorns ripen in September or October and are chestnut brown to nearly black.

Planting and Application:

Chinkapin Oaks are fantastic trees for attracting and feeding wildlife! Keep your eyes peeled for Grouse, Turkey, Quail, chipmunks and squirrels! You'll love watching them play underneath its sturdy branches. Layer with other Wildlife Shrubs for a bio-diverse food forest! Feeding on the insects these trees host as well as the sweet acorns, while roosting in the broad limbs.

Plant on the south or southwest of your home to add property value and eventually reduce your cooling bills. Give this magnificent tree plenty of room to reach full size. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
