Also known as snapweed and touch-me-not, impatiens are a flowering plant that grow throughout North America and in the tropics. Impatiens consist of many varieties, hybrids and cultivars, and they're known as touch-me-nots due to the seed capsules that burst. Impatiens can be annual or perennial flowers, depending on climate, and they prefer moist, rich soils either in or out of direct sunlight. This plant grows well along river banks, forest edges, and ditches.
Impatiens are very popular among home gardeners due to the variety available, and are used as ornamental plants in landscaping as well.
