Weigela - Midnight Wine®

The Weigela Midnight Wine®, Weigela florida 'Elvera' PP12,217, a Proven Winners selection, produces intense dark metallic purple-black foliage for season long interest and color.

Reddish pink funnel-shaped blooms appear in the spring. This marvelous low mounding, dwarf plant is perfect for use in the front of a border or for edging.

It is stunning as an accent plant or for a dramatic mass planting; also effective as a low hedge and in small places.

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun, Midnight Wine® needs full sun for best flowering and foliage color, but will tolerate very light shade. Prune to shape immediately after flowering.

This weigela is loved for its consistently dark leaves, mounding habit, and low maintenance. For a brilliant contrast, try pairing it with yellow foliage companions!
