Plant the bulbs in a hole that is three times as deep as the height of the bulbs. Tulips perform best in full sun but will tolerate some shade. Tulips require well-drained soil and do not like wetness. Plant the bulbs with the points facing upwards and the roots down. Place them close to one another to avoid having them standing by themselves in the spring.
