Maple - McKay Seedless

The McKay Seedless Maple, Acer saccharinum, has an upright, oval form and is a very vigorous, seedless form of the common Soft Maple.

This stately tree is a rapid grower, easy to transplant and a seedless Silver Maple variety. McKay Seedless Maple prefers moist soils, but shows somewhat surprising tolerance for poor dry soils.  It is easily grown in average, medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade.

This tree is best planted in flood plains, wetlands, and farm windbreaks.  A breeze blowing through a Silver Maple causes a striking effect, exposing the silvery underside of the leaves!

When planning a landscape, it is important to consider the mature height of a shade tree, as well as its extensive root system.

With the McKay Seedless Maple, it is the male specimen that is seedless.  Its fall color is a stunning yellow and a good choice for large spots that need a lot of shade.
