Japanese Maple Trees
The Japanese Maple tree category could contain upwards of 330 cultivars of this species. These plants range from small, low growing shrubs types to larger, tree form, shade tree types.
A few attributes, besides being available in many sizes, are their adaptability to many soil types and being able to withstand varying amounts of shade, depending on the cultivar.
Japanese maples contribute unique foliage color with various sizes of leaves. Many of the leaves are quite attractive with the deep cut wide leaves. Green leaves turning red in the fall is a major landscape attribute and also the purple coloration of some of the cultivars provide eye candy to any landscape.
Smaller Japanese maples make excellent container plants and work well as patio or deck plants.
