This introduction by Carl Whitcomb has dense foliage that will turn a rich orange-brown color in the fall.  This variety is not only drought tolerant, but also resistant to powdery mildew, making it versatile in a variety of conditions.


It tops out at 10 feet tall, making it great for a small tree, or a large shrub.  It can be planted as a specimen or in groups.  Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle is easy to grow and needs full sun and well drained soil.  Allow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system.


The Pink Velour® Crape Myrtle is ideally suited for formal or informal design in the home landscape, street plantings and community plantings.  For grouping or borders, be sure to space, 10 feet apart.
