Dura Heat River Birch - BNMTF
Currently one of the country’s most popular ornamental trees, a real standout specimen. The beautifully creamy-white exfoliating bark is unmatched by any other similar tree.
Dura Heat® has a denser, greener foliage canopy than older birches and is quite tolerant of hot temperatures, as the name implies. Hardy for most all U.S. climate zones, it is fast-growing, well-forked, wind- and ice-resistant, and puts on a show of butter-yellow leaves in the fall.
‘Dura Heat’ stands up to leaf spot, but doesn’t like shade, so give it full sun, with moist soil if possible.
This magnificent tree should be planted in groves of three to five for best effect, and works well in tall/narrow spaces, woodland/wetland areas and around manmade water features. The non-toxic trees are safe near horses and livestock.
Underplant with maidenhair ferns or purple wintercreeper , as many professional landscapers do.
