Sugar Tyme® Crabapple

Stunning Display and a Treat for Your Wildlife

Sugar Tyme Crabapple is a flowering Crabapple tree with superior ornamental features.

A pair of them would make a breathtaking addition to your front yard as a decorative asset amid less showy plantings.  It also does well as a street tree or planted en masse in a side yard or naturalized area.

Your Sugar Tyme Crabapple has several enviable features.  Delightfully petite, pink-hued buds will appear to be sprinkled amid your Sugar Tyme’s branches in spring, ushering in a wave of stunning blossoms.

The delicate buds open into 1-inch, single white flowers, each with just a touch of yellow in their centers.  The fragrant blooms are a heady invitation to your yard’s pollinators, bringing your Crabapple alive with the movement of bees and butterflies amid its branches.

Half-inch, round fruit follows, its shiny red globes dangling amid the branches as yet another decorative accent that will persist into the winter months.  This is especially attractive to your feathered friends, who are sure to appreciate the treat, as well as other area wildlife.

Sugar Tyme Crabapple is a deciduous tree growing to about 18 feet in height with a 15 foot spread.  It has an upright, oval shape with slender, dark green leaves for a full, vibrant appearance.

The foliage tints gold for autumn.  Sugar Tyme Crabapple has a high degree of disease resistance and in fact was the 1999 Michigan Grower’s Choice Award winner.  A vigorous tree, the Sugar Tyme is even tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions and urban pollution.
