Spirea - Shirobana

The Spirea Shirobana, 'Spiraea japonica 'Shirobana', is a very interesting, and attractive summer blooming spirea with a handsome, mounding growth habit.

This spirea variety commonly displays three different colored blooms all on the same shrub - and all at the same time!  Flower heads appear in deep rose, pastel pink, and white as well.

The lustrous deep green foliage of this spirea forms a handsome mound 2 to 3 feet tall.  The Shirobana begins blooming in late spring and continues off and on through the summer.

Use this small shrub a an accent in the border, a low hedge or for mass plantings.  For a formal appearance, shear this plant annually after flowering.

It is best to prune ‘Shirobana’ after flowering except for removing dead branches.  Flowering can be intensified and prolonged through regular trimming of expired flower heads.

* Three-colored flowering

* Attractive plant

* Long blooming

Spiraea jap "Shirobana" Review by Debbie
Rating
I just moved into a home that has two of these little bushes planted right where we are going to put a deck. These little bushes were quite small and were smothered with grass and weeds, I cleaned all the grass and weeds away from the bushes and omg, within a week they grew taller and fuller and now have the prettiest little pink to violet flowers. They are beautiful. I will be transplanting them to the side of out house and they will be in full sunlight most of the day. I am so hoping they don't die durng the transplanting. I would highly recommend these bushes they are so pretty. My only question is why aren't the dead branches supposed to be removed? I removed them then read about this bush and found out the dead branches weren't supposed to be removed. oh well, hopefully they will do just fine.
