Onion - Sets - White Ebenezer

Ebenezer White Onion, Allium cepa ‘Ebenezer White’, is great for cooking, very healthy and easy to grow! White Ebenezer is a very flavorful onion that makes a great presentation for small salads, ethnic stir-fry and Mexican dishes. They have beautiful pure white flesh with a wonderfully mild onion flavor and 40-50 days to maturity. This onion performs best in well-drained, slightly acidic, fertile soil in full sun. Place them 3 to 4 inches apart in rows at least a foot apart. Dry bulbs will be ready for harvest when tops have dried and fallen over naturally, usually in August or September; bulbs should not be left in the ground until tops dry completely or bulbs are likely to develop roots. Ebenezer can be planted as early as the soil can be worked into any well-drained garden soil. Be sure to amend your garden soil only with well aged compost. (Do not amend your garden soil with fresh manures of any kind.) Different varieties of bulb onions thrive in different areas and the difference has to do with light and day length, which triggers bulb development. The three varieties are short, intermediate and long-day varieties.
