Roses come in a variety of types, in everything from deer resistant roses and groundcover roses, to breakdown of colors like pink and yellow roses. Most rose types have 5 petals, divided into two distinct lobes. Roses are pollinated by insects and have sharp "thorns" - technically called "prickles." Roses are generally used as ornamental plants in gardens and hedging. Various rose types are also used commercially, in perfumes and as flower crops.
