Quick Overview
New for national distribution in Spring 2011! Miss Jilene® is a truly remarkable variety of one of the most treasured flowering shrubs in the world, Hibiscus syriacus—commonly known as Rose of Sharon or Althea. Everyone loves hibiscus flowers, which cover the plant in the late summer. Miss Jilene® Hibiscus blooms are gorgeous-- pink with a wine-colored center. The prolific blooms will start in late summer and continue until the first frost of autumn. But what makes Miss Jilene® Hibiscus truly extraordinary is its beautiful variegated foliage, which gives this hibiscus plant visual distinction even before the blooms come. This low-maintenance plant thrives in heat and full sun, but it will also flower in partial shade. Fertilize lightly for optimum blooms. Transplants well and grows vigorously to a mature size of 8-12 feet tall. The 2-foot bareroot shrub that you receive will be from sturdy stock and will bloom during the first growing season. Cold hardy throughout USDA Zones 5-8. Also available in a 4-foot-tall tree form (top graft).
