The Variegated Wiegela, Weigela florida 'Variegata', has a compact habit, growing 4-6' high and wide. It has grey leaves with yellow/cream fringes, and dark pink flowers. This deciduous shrub is grown for its showy bell-shaped flowers and spreading, arching growth habit. Leaves are dark green, oval and tapered, to 2.5 inches long.

Dark pink flowers with pale pink-white interiors, to 1 1/4 inches long are produced in corymbs on short lateral twigs on previous years growth in late spring to early summer. Flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. Very nice in a mixed shrub border.

The Variegated Weiglela LOVES LOVES the Eastern full sun exposure location we have ours in - So far the more I trim after blooming the thicker and more showy they get-Fast grower-easy care-

Why are the leaves turning brown on my Veriegated Weigela? I planted it a month ago, it is trying to bloom but all the bottom half of the plant, leaves are turning brown and crunchy.

Answer from Nature Hills: It probably is transplant shock, be patient it is a tough plant and it most likely will be next season before you see it flourish.

Weigela sun needs???, 6/22/2007 11:29:41 PM

My wiegela has flourished w/ lots of green but not very many blooms. It is in a northeastern corner that is shaded by the house from the mid day and afternoon sun (very hot here in Savannah, GA!) If I should move it to a sunnier location, when and how should I transplant it. I think she needs more sun to get blooms.

Welcomes spring with glory, 6/28/2007 3:14:52 PM

I have three variegated weigela bushes that are only 3 years old and I wish I had planted 12 of them. In the late spring and summer, they have glorious variegated leaves. But the glory is in the springtime: gorgeous blooms that turn light pink as they age. These bushes had leafed out and were in bud, ready to bloom, when we had a MAJOR FREEZE this last April (low 20s for three days/nights in a row). I thought they had bit the dust, but they were back in a month, even trying again to bloom. What troopers!!
