I tried to use the tree trainer on a young red maple. It was fairly easy to put on the tree but when it was hit by a strong gust of wind, the arm spun around to the other side of the tree. When I twisted it back around, the bark got rubbed off with it and I'm afraid the damage will kill the tree. I wish I had driven stakes into the ground on either side of the arm to stop it from spinning.
