Product Description:

The Superior Plum tree is a Japanese variety selected for it's large size, vigor, and hardiness. The Superior is a good variety for cold regions. It will bear fruit early. The Superior fruit is fire red with yellow flesh, ripening the first days of August. It is a great pollinator for other Japanese plum varieties. Superior requires another Japanese plum for pollination. With this plum tree, you have a tree that bears earlier and heavier than most plum trees. The fruit ripens in August-September. A good plum tree for Zone 4.

I'm Excited About This Variety
Reviewer: julie donaghy, 4/7/2009 11:22:02 PM
It's early spring in Iowa. In fact, we just had a snow storm two days ago but my superior plum trees are not letting that bother them. They already have small green leaves and they look so good! None of my other fruit trees (apple, apricot, nectarine, peach, cherry) are this far along yet. The tag on the tree states that it does well in clay soil and that is what I have....I am really looking forward to seeing what this tree looks like in a month or two!

I have a Superior plum tree, planted 3 1/2 yrs ago and no pollinator and it is loaded with fruit every year and they are fabulous large and juicy. I had one at are previous home that was 15 yrs old and the same thing no 2nd tree. I ask when I bought it the first time does it need another plum the nursery said no.
