The Gro-Low Sumac, Rhus aromatica, is a selection of Fragrant Sumac grown for its very low, wide-spreading habit. This low-growing, spreading perennial plant is a woody ground cover. Its foliage is dense, glossy, and aromatic and turns a beautiful red fall color. Gro-Low is great for mass planting and bank control. Xeriscape plant. Fragrant sumac performs best in a moist, moderately fertile, well-drained soil. It prefers full sun but tolerates light shade, but full sun is preferable to obtain best autumn color. Gro-Low is very useful as a groundcover species. Its colorful foliage in autumn is also appreciated in many ornamental gardens.
