The Gaura 'Siskiyou Pink', Gaura lindheimeri, has numerous butterfly-shapes maroon flowers opening to reddish pink flowers that bloom from last spring to early summer. With a plant height of 24” and a width of 24-36”, it is definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘Siskiyou Pink’ Gaura requires full sun in a well-drained area with average to rich soil and is very drought tolerant.

A major attraction to butterflies, it continues to bloom through the first hard frosts of autumn into winter. ‘Siskiyou Pink’ Gaura looks great on a rocky ledge, near bricks and stones, near Sedum 'Autumn Joy' or small dahlias. It's also enchanted with pink bush roses and as a contrast to plants with big fleshy leaves.

Unbelievable color, fast spreading - quite the happy plant. I have two of these at the edge of a border and they are glorious. They immediately grew to full maturity. Perhaps I only needed to get one! I cut it back in August and it seems to control the growth and aid in its fall flowering.

I planted three of these plants in front of Rudbeckea goldstrum. They did well the first summer after planting, but did not return the following spring. I live in zone 6, planted them according to soil & sun requirements and can only surmise that they did not return becuase they are not hardy enough. How can they be considered hardy in zone 5 unless they are planted in a micro climate situation which might raise the hardiness zone to 7? They were beautiful however, so I will try again this spring, but plant them in a much drier situation.

I planted two of these beautiful plants last summer. They were just georgeous, but they are not returning this spring...What a disappointment!!!!I too,had them in a very dry, sunny space. They should not be listed as hardy,I live in zone 5,and they havent survived our not so cold winter we had this year.

I also purchased two of these locally and they looked great the year I planted them, but neither of them returned. They were in full sun, well drained, partially sandy soil. I thought it was going to be a great match for the location, but no life in them the second year.

The fast spreading was unbelievable the first year I planted 2007. I was stunned by the quick growth and the hardiness of this flower. True as mention numerous butterfly shapes maroon flowers. I live in Zone 7 and it coming back now it's May 2008. What a beauty!
