Sea Holly Jade Frost, Eryngium 'Jade Frost' (PP#17,370), is one of the most spectacular variegated plants we have ever seen! The unique blue-green leaves have a leathery texture and are surrounded by a bold, creamy white margin. During cool night temperatures, the variegation on the newer leaves turns bright pink. To top off the spectacular foliage, the flowers are equally amazing! During mid-summer, masses of intense silver-blue, spiny flowers are produced on candelabra-like stems. Florists love the long lasting cut flowers. Don't miss out on this great new perennial! Durable, 'Jade Frost' performs in a variety of climates, but truly thrives in hot, sunny conditions and is very tolerant of high salt soils. Preferring rich fertile soils, but tolerant in more demanding settings, 'Jade Frost' adapts to almost any setting that has well drained soils. Eryngium does not like to be overwatered. It spreads to form a small patch and tends to spread more quickly in light soil. The flower color appears to be more intense in higher temperatures.
