Sea Holly Blue Hobbit, Eryngium planum 'Blue Hobbit', is a fascinating dwarf. Eryngium stands only 8" to 12" tall with an abundance of blooms that completely cover the basal rosette of blue green, smooth textured leaves. Eryngium 'Blue Hobbit' boasts a one of a kind, long lasting, purplish blue, spiny flower. The compact size of the plant is perfect for combination containers and landscape borders. Durable, 'Blue Hobbit' performs in a variety of climates, but truly thrives in hot, sunny conditions. Preferring rich fertile soils but tolerant in more demanding settings, 'Blue Hobbit' adapts to almost any setting that has well drained soils. Eryngium does not like to be overwatered. It spreads to form a small patch and tends to spread more quickly in light soil. The flower color tends to be more intense in higher temperatures.
