The Sawtooth Oak tree, Quercus acutissima, is a wide spreading shade or lawn tree. This deciduous tree is a great source for wildlife food because it begins to produce acorns in its sixth year in the nursery. It is a highly prized oak for wildlife enthusiasts because of the short time it takes for the tree to produce acorns.

Sawtooth Oak trees have moderate water requirements and it has a moderate tolerance to salt and alkali soils.

The leaves go from yellow to golden brown in the fall, and open to a brilliant golden yellow in the spring. Its growth rate is rapid for an oak tree, and it is a fast growing shade tree.

I planted one sawtooth in my front yard in March 06. For nearly three months I thought it was dead, since there had not been any sign of growth. It startef about 26 inches in height. In July, the bloom began. It is still growing. It is more than 63 inches tall with a beautifull spread, and the base has doubled already. Cant wait to see what next year brings. I will be oredering five more.

I planted 440 saw tooth oak trees over the past 3 years. The 3 year olds have acorns this year. I ferterlize 2 times a year. their 11 feet tall and growing faster than any tree i ever saw. One tree puts off enough oxygen for 4 people, so ill have enough oxygen for 1760 people. I love my trees.
