Rose of Sharon Blue Chiffon, Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Chiffon™', is the latest addition to the Chiffon series from breeder Dr. Roderick Woods of England. The exquisite blue flowers have a lacy center of lighter lavender-blue petals that give it a semi-double appearance. The flower centers are accented with wine red color that streaks out from the veins of the petals. Hibiscus Blue Chiffon™ blooms profusely from July through September. Hibiscus Blue Chiffon provides some much needed color for the midsummer and fall garden design. Blue Chiffon is easy to grow in full sun and normal garden soils where this garden plant is sure to provide many years of enjoyment! It is an excellent flowering shrub that may be massed, planted in groups or used as a specimen; very tolerant of summer heat and humidity. Larger flowers may be obtained by pruning back hard to 2-3 buds in early spring.
