The Minnesota Snowflake Mock Orange, Philadelphus x virginalis, is a compact, deciduous shrub that grows to only 3' tall. Features fragrant, double white flowers that bloom profusely in late spring. Flowers appear in clusters with 5-7 flowers per cluster. It has oval, dark green leaves (to 3.5" long). The common name refers to the general resemblance of the sweetly fragrant flowers of this genus to those of orange blossoms.

Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Tolerates wide range of soils except for those that are poorly drained. Blooms on previous year's growth, so prune immediately after flowering. May be cut to the ground (also after flowering) if shrub becomes scraggly, unkempt or otherwise in need of rejuvenation.

I just located your site today only to discover that you are out of stock of what I consider to be the most beautiful plant in the universe. I had one that was over 40 years old at my last home, unfortunatly that went with the ex - I did try to take the tree with me but it was not to be. I remember how every year I would wait for it to bloom so I could open the window that it was planted in front of to have the scent fill my house. I miss my tree, and the magical perfume it gave out, it remains the only good memory I have of that house. Buy as many as you can you will think Gardinas smell like a dump compared this a Mock Orange Blossom.

My mother's old home in VT was surrounded by Mock Orange and every spring, we brought armloads of blossoms inside and almost became intoxicated with the delicious fragrance. It truly is one of the most remarkable flowering shrubs. I bought one several years ago from Nature Hills, and it's growing slowly, but is very healthy and happy. No blooms yet, but.....any year now. It's still a baby. I recommend this beautiful flowering shrub to everyone who loves perfumed flowers.
