Hosta Earth Angel, Hosta 'Earth Angel', is a lovely variegated sport of the award winning Hosta 'Blue Angel'. 'Earth Angel' is an impressive specimen hosta with large heart-shaped, blue-green leaves with wide creamy margins. With pale lavender flowers appearing on 40" scapes in midsummer, 'Earth Angel' becomes an outstanding specimen plant. It has high slug resistance and was chosen as 2009 Hosta of the Year by American Hosta Society. One of the largest blue-variegated hostas. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots. High-filtered or dappled sunlight is necessary for clean, healthy growth. Morning sun is tolerable and will help to intensify the leaf colors, but hot afternoon sun is usually deadly to hostas. They are most at home in shady, woodland settings and often work well as specimen or edging plant.
