The Chicago Apache Daylily, Hemerocallis 'Chicago Apache', is a deep, rich velvet red, with a tiny yellow-green heart. The petal edges crimp nicely. Chicago Apache is one of our longest bloomers. It was selected for its abundance of blossoms, vibrant colors, and hardiness in a variety of climates and soils. This daylily is carefree, pest resistant and free of daylily rust disease, which is outstanding! It will even grow under Black Walnut trees and along salted driveways. 'Chicago Apache' Daylily is a heavy feeder and likes a high nitrogen fertilizer. It is best to use a slow release fertilizer in the early spring when new growth first appears. Flower stems can be removed after blooming to encourage additional blooms. Vegetation can be cleaned up and discarded in late fall or early spring. Can be divided most any time of year and division is usually needed every 3-4 years for best performance.
