It shows fantastic highlights of burgundy throughout the veins and on the underside of the foliage. Its young foliage has deeply ruffled edges which loosen up with age. Thousands of small, purplish flowers on strong purple spikes add to its appeal. With Chocolate Ruffles you get rich chocolate and ruffles without the calories! Best grown in organically rich, humusy, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. It does well in full sun in the northern part of its range, and prefers part shade in the hot summers of the deep South. Chocolate Ruffles Coral Bells provides color and contrast to the rock garden, perennial border or open woodland garden. Plant in masses to form an attractive ground cover.
