The Christmas Rose, Helleborus, is a colorful mixture of helleborus producing clusters of 2-6 cup-shaped flowers, about 2" wide. Blooms in early spring. Height: 12-18". Winter to early spring, large flowers rise above masses of glossy dark, leather-like leaves. These hardy, easy to grow perennials thrive in a partially sunny to full shade locations and are great companions to Hosta. They are insect/disease resistant and tolerant of heat and humidity.
Helleborus are relatively care-free plants. As with many ornamental perennials, adequate soil preparation is the key to long term health and vigor. Helleborus are deep rooted, stout plants, and are well-known for their thick, shiny green foliage.
