How far apart can the two trees be planted to still properly pollinate one another?

Answer from Nature Hills: For bees and other insects to pollinate fruit trees the trees should not be planted more than 100 feet of each other. If you have a crabapple tree in the vicinity that blooms the same time period as your apple tree that will act as a great pollinator also.

the braeburn says no pollinator is needed. is that correct? under the comments, according to you a pollinator is needed. please help. im new to this:)

NHN Answer: The Braeburn is self-fruitful so no pollinator is needed. I'm not sure what you are referring to when you state under the comments but I assume you may be looking at the pictures of other apple trees.
