Perfect border trim
Reviewer: babago, 7/20/2008 3:20:08 PM
I've loved leriope for years. It is deep almost black green, and over time it can make a dense border for any location. The thicker you plant it, the sooner that happens. It is not invasive. The spikes of flowers look great. Then there come the black round seeds on the spike which is a little shorter than the plant is tall. It transplants nicely, but if it gets really thick, you'll need a hatchet to split the clumps apart. This rough treatment does not seem to bother it. I used it to border the front plantings at my church, to line one side of my driveway, and to border my tropical secret garden beds. I mainly garden in zone 8B, where it s evergreen. From our homesite which was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, I moved about 100' of leriope muscari to our new house, where it is making quite a difference. I couldn't garden without it.
