The Iris Batik, Iris x germanica 'Batik' has stripes and splashes of white on dark purple flowers. With a velvety texture and beautiful sword-shaped foliage, it has a plant height of 24”. Batik blooms in spring and is an easily grown Iris. It prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sun, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. This Iris needs plenty of water throughout the season to continue to looks its best. Batik will make a great addition around pools, ponds and water gardens, and for mass plantings. It can also be used in difficult banks and preventing erosion. They also make magnificent cut flowers and are resistant to deer.

I planted two of these Iris plants last year from Nature Hills. They did not grow much the first year, but stayed healthy throughout the first year dispite massive amounts of rain that they received last year in Austin. They were planted in clay soil slightly ammended with peat moss. They are trouble free plants. In the second year both plants grew by leaps and bounds and flowered this April. They provide beautiful blue flowers...the picture on this website does not do the plant justice. It is truly a unique variety. I'm a beginner working in clay and these plants are thriving. Definetly recommended.
