Daylily - Ruby Stella

The Daylily 'Ruby Stella', Hemerocallis 'Ruby Stella', is a durable perennial with grass-like leaves that produces showy clusters of deep wine-red lily-like fragrant blooms on tall stems.

The flowers appear in late spring to early summer and continue until frost.  ‘Ruby Stella’ is in its full glory by July!

Unlike most daylilies, it reblooms throughout summer, with sufficient reliability that it is categorized as ever-blooming.  It grows 14-18 inches tall and 18-24 wide.

Even though drought tolerant, ‘Ruby Stella’ blooms much better with regular watering.  Plant in drifts for maximum effect!

The mounding strap-like foliage adds a textural element to the garden when not in bloom.  Deer resistant.

Individual flowers last only one day, but since each plant produces many buds, the total blooming time of a well-established clump may last more than a month.  Use this daylily for color in shrub borders and in perennial beds; attracts butterflies.

Once established, the daylily can be an excellent groundcover on slopes because it has roots that hold soil against erosion.  Divide every 3-5 years, or when the number of flower buds and the size of bloom begin to decline.
