Penstemon - Dark Towers
Penstemon Dark Towers, Penstemon 'Dark Towers' PPAF, is a new hybrid from the University of Nebraska that is tough as nails and hardy to zone 3! In midsummer, the plants explode with tall stems of tubular flowers that are deep lavender-rose at the base and lighter pink towards the tips. The deep wine red foliage brings color to the landscape even when the plants are not in bloom.
Penstemon 'Dark Towers' is an outstanding garden plant and noted to have even darker foliage than Penstemon 'Husker's Red'. It is best to plant penstemon in a full sun location, having a moist, well-drained area. Being drought tolerant, penstemon looks great in a perennial border, in a naturalized setting, in rock gardens or for cuttings.
Hummingbirds and butterflies love this perennial, not to mention being deer resistant.
