Short Day Onion, Yellow Granex, Allium cepa' Yellow Granex', is for gardeners in southern latitudes and warm-winter climates. They are ready for harvest by late spring or early summer before hot summer weather arrives. The Yellow Granex Onion is a very popular sweet onion; actually has a sugary flavor, which makes it a nice and mild onion that is well suited for onion rings, cooking, baking and sauces, but also used raw. This is an easy to grow onion that is a bit flat with flimsy papery wrapping; flesh is a light yellow and thick. This onion is a very reliable garden performer. For mature bulbs, wait until the tops fall over after the growing season. Then dig up the bulbs, cure for 3 weeks, and store in a cool, dry place. Short Day types are best suited for southern climates, when day length reaches 12-14 hours of sunlight, and are generally planted in the winter or early spring. They are ready for harvest by late spring or early summer before hot summer weather arrives. Sold in bunches of 2, each bunch contains 55-75 plants.
