Kodiak® Red Honeysuckle Bush
Versatile Shrub | Leaves Turn From Red to Green
Kodiak Red Diervilla (Kodiak™ Red Diervilla rivularis 'G2X885411' PPAF) is a rugged native plant that has a great wild, but refined look. This plant is equally at home in your naturalized garden as well as your formal foundation planting. It does well in both sun and shade, and is drought-tolerant to boot.
Like other diervilla, this bush honeysuckle isn’t a true honeysuckle which means that it’s not invasive like many native honeysuckles can be.
This isn’t a shrinking violet in the garden, though. Kodiak Red starts out in spring with beautiful red leaves that fade to a pretty green. All the new growth throughout the year starts out red, too. It’s like Christmas all year!
Kodiak Red sports light yellow flowers in early summer, too. What a great color show! It is also deer-resistant, disease resistant and grows in dry shade. Try it in your most challenging sites or for naturalizing, foundation plantings, hedges, wildlife gardens and mixed borders. This is one of those great and versatile native plants that you should own.
