Juniper - Blueberry Delight
A Foot of Flavor
The Blueberry Delight Juniper, J. comminis depressa 'AmiDak', is a North Dakota State University introduction.
'AmiDak' is a dense, low spreading juniper that gets its name from the heavy crops of these blueberry-like cones. The fruit is often used as a flavoring in sauerkraut, stuffings, vegetable pates, and is an essential ingredient of gin.
Blueberry Delight Juniper has a foliage that is a rich, dark green with contrasting silvery-blue hues on the upper leaf surface.
Its' summer color is retained well in winter. It matures to 12" high and spreads to 5'.
It succeeds in most soils so long as they are well drained, preferring a neutral or slightly alkaline soil and does well in chalky or heavy clay soils.
