Hosta Little Treasure
The Hosta Little Treasure, Hosta ‘Little Treasure', is an easy to grow miniature cutie that is full of vigor!
This spunky little hosta is a sport of ’Little Jay’, and can be tucked in between other shade plants to make a splash of color. ‘Little Treasure’ has slim pointed leaves with wide blue-green margins and dramatic creamy white centers.
You can expect the lavender flowers to appear in midsummer on cream-colored scapes; hummingbirds will come to visit!
‘Little Treasure' is a low care perennial and is ideal for shady positions and is one of the most popular for landscapes. It is best to keep areas around hostas clear of excess leaf debris to reduce the presence of slugs and snails.
It grows well in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam is better than clay because it provides more aeration for the roots.
Plant ‘Little Treasure' in an area that receives the right amount of light. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration; too much sun will burn the leaves.
This charming and vigorous little Hosta can be tucked in between other shade perennials in borders, rock gardens or woodland gardens, or used as an edging plant. If you want a showy groundcover, plant ‘Little Treasure' in mass plantings!
