Quick Overview
The Blue-Gray Sedge, Carex glauca, aka Carex glauca, is a tough sedge that can grow in very diverse habitats. It is often found in full sun with prairie grasses but will do well in the shade of large trees. 'Blue Sedge' looks splendid when planted in rock gardens, is excellent as a ground cover, and great for erosion control; needs to be given an adequate amount of water. If you want it to spread quickly, cut it back by three quarters and that will force lateral shoots to come up. It is an evergreen in mild areas, and considered deer resistant.
