Grass - Pampas

The Grass 'Pampas', Cortaderia selloana, is a tall ornamental grass that is tropical in appearance, clump forming, with narrow medium-green heavily serrated leaves. With its impressive size, graceful aspect, durable toughness, and spectacular flowers, it is the most recognized plant in the landscape. The leaves are evergreen, long and slender, and are arranged in dense fountain-like clumps. The real show starts in midsummer when the spectacular white plumes suddenly erupt from the foliage and reach up to one foot long. The feathery plumes persist and the foliage turns golden brown when touched by frost and cold weather. 'Pampas' Grass is highly adaptable and can grow in a wide range of environments and climates. Provide full sun and fertile well-drained loamy soils; occasionally water during times of drought to keep plant looking good.
