River Mist has an upright form until the flowers appear as graceful, drooping greenish blooms.


As the flower stalks expand in early summer, the blooms are replaced by clusters of white seed heads in late summer.


The arching seed heads mature to a purple-bronze color and make a nice accent when left on through the winter and can be use for flower arrangements.


It is quite adaptable, preferring to grow in average to wet conditions. It will tolerate some standing water and is tolerant of urban pollution. It is also deer resistant.
