Grass - The Blues Little Bluestem

The Grass 'The Blues Little Bluestem Grass', Schizachyrium scoparium 'The Blues', has attractive deep blue foliage. The fall color is a burgundy red.

It works well in mass plantings. It does well in a variety of soil types and is drought tolerant. Extra water and fertilization is not needed!

The attractive foliage is upright and is open to spreading the fine textured leaves.

Little Blues Bluestem grasses have delicate and inconspicuous inflorescence in late summer and become silvery when dried.

The foliage remains attractive in winter. The fall color varies from tan to copper, orange, and dark orange red.

To keep this plant looking neat, prune back to the ground in early spring before new growth begins. The Blues can be divided every 3 years or so in early spring.

Besides its outstanding appearance, The Blues provides nest sites, cover, and food for birds!

This one plant you will not want to prune back in the fall after a heavy frost! Enjoy it all winter long!
