Red Riding Hood Grass
The Grass Red Riding Hood, Pennisetum setaceum 'Red Riding Hood', is perfect for containers and smaller borders.
'Red Riding Hood' has rich burgundy leaves, stems and flowers which bloom in late summer. Upright and arching, Red Riding Hood is a dwarf form of 'Rubrum'.
This rich burgundy-colored fountain grass adds height without outgrowing its welcome. It is wonderful for smaller borders and is pest and disease-free.
Pennisetum Red Riding Hood is only an annual in northern climates. It makes a great specimen plant and can be used as a center piece in a container.
It is a purple-pigmented ornamental grass when grown in high-light environments.
In low-light environments, foliage appears light purple or green, and as a result, aesthetic appeal is reduced.
This plant can be a perennial in zones 9-11. In zones 3-8 it is an annual only.
