Arches and Obelisks
Gardeners choose arches and obelisks for a variety of reasons. They can be used to create whimsy in the garden, beautify large dull areas, or hide unsightly equipment. When blanketed with vining foliage and lovely blossoms, these garden accents present a focal pleasure and make a dramatic statement. The arches and obelisks are strong enough to hold heavy harvests of cucumbers or beans, and other climbing vegetables. The vertical architecture brings interest and color to unexpected new heights, in the garden or on the patio. A variety of materials can be used, but cedar is the natural choice because of its beauty, practicality and durability. Other materials that are used: wrought iron, tubular powder-coated steel, weather-resistant PVC material and other woods.
