True Blue Blooms - Attract Butterflies & Hummingbirds
Gentiana True Blue, Gentiana 'True Blue' PPAF, is a lovely "true" blue perennial from hybridizer Darrel Probst. Gentiana 'True Blue' PPAF produces large 2" tubular blue flowers that open at the nodes all up and down the stems.
The plant has smooth, green, lance-shaped leaves, and hummingbirds and butterflies love this flower! Ideal in a rock garden, as a border edging plant or in a bright woodland. Gentians tend to grow best in cooler zones with mild summers. 'True Blue' can grow in the garden right along with your other perennials since it is not an alpine type.
It prefers full sun to part shade and should be protected from the afternoon sun in regions with hot, humid summers. Plant it in well-drained, sandy loam to loam soil with average to consistent moisture.
