The spring planting season has arrived for some of us and is very close for other patient gardeners. With each passing day more trees, perennials, annuals, bulbs and vegetables are being carefully planted. With so many new plants finding homes, it is exciting to ponder all the greenery that is being added to mother earth.
With each year comes the excitement of watching our plants take root and start filling out to their potential. While we want to make sure our plants get off to a great start, we need to be very careful about over watering. There is not a rule of thumb to how much water each plant needs nor should all perennials be watered the same amount. It is better to water deeply than to water every day or every other day. You need to keep a close eye on your plants as they will give you signs of needing water. If you are unsure about whether to water or not, drooping leaves are a sure tell sign. The old adage of more is better is not the case when it comes to watering plants or even your lawn.
Looking forward to another lush and green year.
