If you live in Florida, you might be wondering why they don't allow certain dogwood trees to be shipped into your state. This is a requirement from the Florida Department of Agriculture to regulate the pest "dogwood anthracnose" into the state of Florida. Because of that concern, they restrict the movement of dogwood plants (Cornus, spp.) or any other part thereof from infested states into Florida. States regulated are: AL, CT, DE, GA, ID, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, SC, TN, VA, WA, WV or any other state where dogwood anthracnose is determined to be established. This includes a dogwood plant (Cornus, spp.) or part thereof or any other plant or part thereof which is capable of harboring or transporting dogwood anthracnose in any of its life stages. This has been a problem in Florida and they are using this regulation to protect their state from any further infestation.
